We installed a 3.54 kWp system for a the Robles family in Tottington, Bury, Lancashire, having already had solar thermal modules installed on their home they approached us looking for a 4 kWp system, wanting to minimise their payback time through the feed-in tariff, and having subsidised the majority of their hot water needs through renewables, they were looking to achieve a similar target with their electricity.
With the existing solar thermal system in place, space on their south facing roof was slightly limited so we had to opt for a high output module to get maximum system performance. The final system was 12 x TG Solar HSTAF24295M.72 295W solar modules and a Diehl 3800s solar inverter, the TG Solar modules also had the added benefit of bypass diodes integrated in them which would allow a shading issue caused by a flue on the roof to be minimised.
The outcome of the project was a 3.54 kWp system, which will generate approximately 2600 kWh per year and earn the family around £1100.00 in revenue from feed-in tariff generation alone, not to mention what they will save on their electricity bills and any additional export revenue.
